Ukraine after 1240




The Ukraine had a great penitential in increasing there economy in the trading market in the city of Lviv where it was protected by the river that flow around it. In 1240 the Mongol invaded Ukraine and took the most successful city that had their economy on the rise of power Lviv. The destruction that the Mongol did after invasion left Ukraine with numerous disasters to the economy, the society and the on going of weak leader that was helpless in defeating Ukraine in the first place. The on going cruel that the Mongol did the land and to the people, there was no other choice but leave. This was the beginning of the fight for Ukraine; they were no longer their own country, now they would become many.

King Danylo of Halych

Before Danylo became King of Halych he was first a little boy who lost is father and was soon after sent to exile because he and his brother were heir to Halych. His mother Anna and brother Vasylko were sent to Galicia by the Boyars. Then the Boyar accepted someone from their own people to become their ruler.

Soon Prince Danylo came back with the support of Pole and Hungarian where he took back what rightfully his and his brother because they were the princes. In 1212 Danylo started his success by renounced his claims to Halych. His works started to grow and his re- establishes his rule over Volhynia then in 1238 went to war with the Teutonic knights and with winning the fight, they regained most of Galicia. Later on in 1245 Prince Danylo took action to regain all of Galicia which he did by defeating the enemy. At this time the Boyars who were the people that exile the now prince Danylo was very loyal to him.

The success that Prince Danylo brought strength and hope to his people also brought the attention of the Mongols and so in 1246 the Mongol summoned Prince Danylo was told to accept Mongol’s overlord ship. After the attack and accept the Mongols rule, Danylo had to found away out of this situation. While Danylo supplied the Mongols with his own soldier he worked with Poland and Hungary in a cordial relation and also took it up to ask the pope and promised to have his land under the Rome. In the end the pope Crown Danylo at Dorochyn on the bug river but soon this great moment is the beginning of the next struggle that King Danylo will face.

The Mongols had a good eye on them and saw what was going on and took action by force. They have so much power and repetition that followed them, so instead of war they rode into Galicia and gave them an ultimatum. Which in the end known the strength and damage that the Mongol could do to the land Danylo work so hard into he gave in and pulled down the walls.

The Establishment of Lviv


The Lviv was built by King Danylo in honor of his son Lev. The Lviv was a part of Halychyna. King Danylo built this town in honor of his son Lev. Belong to Kievan Rus’ ancestor of Ukraine located near the water that became a very important resource that the Lviv hold within there city. The want of the city was fought and claim by many countries and empires to have Lviv. Trading became one of the reasons that the Lviv’s economy was so strong and was wanted so bad by many people.

The Lviv was considering to be built as a point of a well protected by the water where is it also easy trading crossroads ways for the largely developed trading and commerce place. Most of the country like Western Europe, Asia, Scandinavia and Byzantuim would use the city for their own trading to each other. Danylo was really dedicated to building a strong stability to his land and people, also to have an economic growth. Which he successfully accomplish with the trading marketing and also made Lviv a very important town in the Ukrainian’s history. After all that Lviv went through they were attack again but by the polish in 1349 and were brought under their polish-Lithuanian state ruling.
